Junior 6 Slime experiment
Slime flows like a liquid, but unlike familiar liquids (e.g., oil, water), its ability to flow or viscosity is not constant. So, it's a fluid, but not a regular liquid. Scientists call a material that changes viscosity a non-Newtonian fluid.
We made slime using white glue, shaving cream and liquid soap. The objective was to see that some fluids are different and that not everything is like it seems in Science

Make Your Own Slime!
In this opportunity, the children in J4A have been working with polymers and have been studying its main characteristics.
Our goal is for them to apply the new concepts in real life, so what better way to do so than making their own slime?
A polymer is a large chain of molecules made up of smaller units that repeat themselves. The white glue in our slime is a polymer, a large chain of molecules that allows it to be poured. When we add the liquid starch it changes the structure of the chain making the polymer thicker which then makes our awesome slime.
We only used starch, glue, glitter, a bowl and a spoon. Here are the results:

The baking soda and vinegar volcano
On Wednesday 15th, Junior 4A and 4B together with their teachers Micaela Bloise and Cecilia Otero, visited the lab to make a real volcanic eruption.
The children learnt about the chemical reaction that occurs between an acid and a base.
They had a lot of fun!
